Cooling Fan Emergency!
Cooling Fan Emergency!
I installed a Jet Fan Switch, 160 stat, and new radiator. It runs alot cooler but my two electric fans aren't coming on at all; I waited till the cooling temp got to 225 degrees- still nothing. I checked the fusebox and the fan harnesses are all hooked up. I turned on the air conditioner on to see if the fans came on but they didn't. Does anybody have an idea what the problem is? I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the new fan switch; my fans didn't come on with the old one either. My car is a '87 Iroc TPI. Thanks

Temporarily...
...you might want to jumper the plug on the A/C harness where it goes to the pressure switch on the metal line on the passenger side of the engine bay, near the strut tower. My coolant sensor died (at a bare minimum), and while I troubleshoot the rest of the setup I have a paper clip in the harness plug, so that the passenger side fan turns on as soon as I hit the ignition. It must work, never got over 200 and this is on a Firebird in central CA with a heat index of 121... My only cooling mods are a drilled 180 thermo and Stewart Stage II pump.

mine stopped working for some reason, i dont know why. i just installed a lighted switch in the car and ran 10 gauge wire to the correct places. i just used the wires coming off the fan motor. now the only way the fan will come on is if i flip the switch inside. and contrary to popular belief the only time this becomes a nuissance is when somebody else is driving the car, i.e. the inspector. since this only happens once a year it is no problem.
