gauge moving?

i just had a general question. my temp gauge fluctuates with the status of my fan (rises when off, down when on) i was just wondering if everyone else's gauge does that or if its just mine. ive been having problems with the guage since i got the car. and im trying to get it operating correctly.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, then it's supposed to do that.

The reason the fan comes on is to get the temp down. Then it shuts off after the coolant gets 'less warm'. After the coolant warms to a certain temp, the fan kicks on, and cools it back down.

Again, that's if I understand your question. If that's not what you meant, ask again with more detail, OK?

i think you got the question. but with respects to other cars. my 89 RS is the oldest car we have and i have noticed that on the other cars the temp gauge doesnt fluctuate with the activity of the fan, it stays at the same reading whether the fan is on or off
