Yet another fan wiring headache

Ok, this is on my wife's 92 Formula and my Dads 92 Z28 Vert. Both are LB9/5 spd cars with dual fans.

Now on both cars, the secondary fan will not turn on. Not even with the ac. The primary fan comes on normally however, with the ac, and at 180F

So, I spliced the coil ground wire from the secondary fan to the coil ground wire of the primary fan to get both fans to run at the same time to keep the temps lower in traffic. On the highway, both cars run at 180F on the highway, just gets warm in traffic.

Now both fans come on, but at a higher temp. Around 196F they kick on, and shut off around 192F. This is according to my Auto Xray. When I turn the AC on, both fans run, but when I shut the ac off, the fans stay on. Even when the motor isn't warmed up yet.....

Any ideas? Just sorta lost and frustrated at this point

i have my secondary fan relay grounded and it stays on when the key is on. the primary fan comes on as soon as i turn the key on and stays on untill i turn the key off (i dont know why tis one does this but it does). my car has stock 195* stat and it rarely gets over 180* on highway and 195* while in traffic in 100* humid weather with a/c on. i have found out that with the secondary fan wired to ground the car takes longer to warm up.
