Rate this system. Could I do better for a warmed over 355?

Will this be enough for those AC-on-full-driving-to vegas in the middle of summer, trips?

180 degree thermostat
Stewart Stage 2 Water Pump - 23123HP
Stewart Stage 2 water pump bolt kit
Autozone stock 1-row aluminum radiator part #433918
SPAL dual fan setup 11” high performance
Miscellaneous new heater hoses

Going with the high polished because it just looks nice, but from what I have been hearing this should be plenty to keep me cool.

Thanks,

James

That sounds a little similar to what I'm running on my 355, except currently an Autozone copper 3-row (go w/ the alum 1-row).

I also use a higher-pressure rad cap, the '94-'97 LT1 piece which is 18# versus the 16# spec piece. Increasing system pressure increases heat transfer, allowing the engine to cool more efficiently. I'm still on the dual GM fans, your SPALs are a step up.

I dragged and road-raced for three years w/ the stock GM pump, no overheating problems even in Summer in hot 'n humid Tennessee.

I swapped to the Stewart-2 pump when the GM started getting old...it was 11 years old and was going to fail at an inconvenient time so I got it over with.

Does the LT1 cap have a pressure valve? Though I probably wont have to worry about overheating anymore I still like the feature.

Will the GM stock pump do the job of the stewart? I've heard the stewart not only looks good (hp model) but movs a lot more water as well?

Thanks

James

Pretty much all rad caps have a pressure relief valve, that's how they regulate system pressure. The L98 cap relieves at 16#, the LT1 cap relieves at 18#.

The GM pump can't possibly be as well engineered as the Stewart, but it was good enough. The extra $$ on the pump impeller itself is worth it, more linear flow versus the mass-produced GM part.
