I guess it is supposed to be 160*. That is by adding 100 and 220 and then dividing by two. However, I have found that my factory temp guage is way off. I recently added an Auto Meter Pro-Comp water temp guage and found my call stays around 190* with A/C on in traffic on hot days. The stock guage stays at the 1/4 mark or 160*. I trust the Autometer guage.

I don't think it is linear. so dividing by 2 would be too low for the tick mark. I thought it would be closer to 180.

It was less than $100 dollars. Can't remember exactly. Its the nicest piece they make in my opinion, liquid filled, 2 5/8" face. Its mechanical so any hole to a water passage will work. I used the port at the front of the intake manifold that used to go to my heater, no heater any more so it worked perfectly for me. I would have used the hole in the head where the factory sender is, except at first I wanted to be able to compare the two. Yes, very easy installation. Took about 30 minutes, that included wiring the light.
