nm....i found it out myself....guess and check

but now i got a new question... My relay works when i cause it to turn on/off....and my fan isnt seized(cuz it spins good when i manually turn on)....so im still wondering why its not turing on? Where is the temperature switch to activate the relay??

Background info:

I got a 350 engine that likes to overheat in the city....my thermostat seems to be good and whenever i start overheating i start leaking radiator fluid . Basically Ive narrowed the problem down to the cooling fan. It doesnt turn on...on its own when its supposed to. I guess i COULD put a manual switch in...but im thinkin that could be a nusance .

The fan switch should be in the passenger side head, in between cylinders #6 and 8. Just a little bit lower than the centerline of the exhaust ports. It is a one wire connection to it. If you want to check the switch, unplug the wire from it and ground the wire. The fan should come on when you do that (I believe the key still has to be "on").

Well i found BOTH of the sensors for the heat....but now im not sure which is the sensor to activate the fan...and which one is the one for the gauge....

For future refrence one was on the front of the engine hidden somewhat behind the belts.....and the other was on the DRIVER side under the centerline of the exaust ports.

i still have to test which one is wich

thanks for the help peeps

See the very first post in this thread for a picture of what the fan switch looks like. The connector plugs on to the mushroom shaped plastic end of the switch. To remove the connector from the switch, you squeeze it on two opposite sides. I'm guessing it will be the one on the driver's side, not the one behind the belts. The pic of the switch may help you decide which one to unplug the wire from and ground though.
