Overheating no mater what!

new thermostat...120 or 160..can't remember, new radiator cap, coolant flush, and i have the air dam. Why oh why will this thing not stay cool?. Gets almost up to redline..then it will drop down to about 240 then start climbing to the red. Any suggestions?

P.S. Fan is hard wired on as soon as the key is turned.

Look into the radiator with the engine running to make sure the pump is working.
After that if the pump is good then you might have to check the radiator.

Flushed the radiator this morning..chunked the thermo..got about 2 miles down the road...red line...pulled over..car sounds like it has marbles rolling around in it now =/ A suggestion to me was the car was running lean since the exhaust manifolds were white hot (really...they were white).

Should I try messing with the timeing? Are my valves shot?

Thanks,

Michael

YES Check your timing and make sure that the firing order is right.

Overheating

I have a 91 350 TPI which HAD the factory dual fans hooked up to a switch. My radiator tank blew out and when I replaced the radiator a ton of stuff was caught between the radiator and the condensor. Check to make sure you don't have anything there. Also I switched to the single large fan and leave it on all the time. Before in traffic it would creep up to 240 now it won't got over 160, the thermostat temp. Just some thoughts, stick with it you'll figure it out.

Oh if your timing is retarded the car will heat up more than normal so mabye check that. And make sure you have the stock airdam.
