Anyone here made a custom Airdam?

If so, can I see a picture? I'm going to be attempting to make one soon, as I have thoroughly romped on the stock one and it kinda swings back and forth now, so I don't imagine it's forcing much air up to the radiator! Anyway, I feel this will be fairly simple, probably involve sheetmetal... tho I'd like a pic or two to get an idea here. Car is in signature.

i always wanted to make a stiff plastic one that was on a spring loaded 2 way hinge.... kinda like the C5 vettes have...

ive just never gotten around to it...

and remember that whatever you make it out of has to have some way of giving... otherwise, its going to be ripped off the car.... the stock one just flexed... but a stiff one can be made if its on a hinge of some kind...

my idea was somthing like whats attached.

the vertical block is the airdam
the yellow/gold is the hinge its on... it can piviot both forward and backward.
in front of the airdam in red is a wire spring its on a black "pin" to piviot on.
there is a identical spring on the other side of the air dam that you cannot see because the hinge is "in the way", but you get the basic idea

its spring loaded, stiff enough that not even 100+ MPH wind will move it, but at the same time, the force of smacking a curb or somthing will allow it to bend without breaking.

allowing it to fold both ways lets you back out of driveways and drive into them.

btw, im not a artist.

and im even worse when posting at 2:45am..

damn insomina.. i wish i could sleep

I made one for my 87 firebird out of a Big truck Mud Flap just by cutting one side off too the lenght i wonted, it works great scraps sometimes on speed bumps but who cares its a mud flap if it breaks i'll cut another, anyway makes car look lower in front sorry i have no pics.
oh i installed it by bolting it to orginal air dam under car.

i used some spare aluminum sitting around, this is just a spare lying around, i have a great stock air dam on my current 91 formula, but i used something like that for my 88 camaro. you could paint it black and it bends easy it u hit a curb with it.
