no thermostat=what????

ok, heres my question, my car has been running a little hot, around 200 220, and sometimes just a little more than that, not TOO hot, highest prolly 230, i have my airdam on, its pretty rough, but oh well, i need to buy a motor for my left passenger side fan, so only one fan is goin, but i was talkin to this guy that i work with, he owns a 92 camaro RS with a 327, its a sweet ride, i need to get pics of it, well the camaro is pushin around 450+ hp running 10 seconds, his temp in his car doesnt even read that much, like 160 thats it!! i asked him what he did, he said he put a aluminum radiator in it, im like cool, and then he said how hot does yours run, and i told him around 220, and he said that i can make it run really cool by takin out the thermostat, but puttin it back in by winter so my heater will warm up, is this true, will it run cooler?? also is it bad to run car with no thermostat?? thanks for reading this, sorry its so long,

that topic has be debated mucho times on here. i would say run it with and without the t stat and see what it likes better as long as all the other cooling componets are working good.

i ran my 305 carbed motor with just one electric fan and no t stat and it ran at 140 in the winter (no heater box) and 160 170 in the summer

my 350 now is having a problem without the t stat. it's running like 180-200 but i don't have the fan shroud on and i might need a new clutch fan so i'll see what it likes after i replace those parts.

alot of people will tell you you need the tstat cause it will give the fluid a chance to cool down in the rad. when it's closed, but like i said try it with it and without it and see what you like

I don't have the specs in front of me but a single fan 3 gen car is larger than either of the dual fans on a dual fan 3 gen car. So lets say:

Large single fan moves 500 CFM Airflow then true the dual fans (when both working) may move 600CFM and be a better option to cool our cars.

But when you have 1/2 of that capacity you are in an "not cool" (pun intended) situation.

Any statical gurus out there can fill in the actual specs but I'm just popping numbers for example.

You have already stated your problem. 1/2 of your fan cooling went south. Even then your car is not running "too" hot.

Now don't choose the wrong method to solve your problem...... fix your fan first and see what happens.
