Do I have a leak or is this normal?

Hey guys.
I just bought a 91 bird with a V6 engine. The coolant container was empty when I took a look at it. I took the radiator cap off and I saw some green coolant left in there. I went and bought some coolant, I bought the new orange stuff and it said it didnt matter if I mixed orange with a lil green. So, I go ahead a fill up the neck and the container up to the cold line. I wake up the next day and when I open the hood I noticed that there was almost nothing left in the container and the neck was still full. I didn't see a single drop of coolant dripping and no puddles under the car.

What do you think?
Thanks guys

You need to start the car and run it while you fill it up. Unless you're sure it's full, that will continue to happen and could cause your car to overheat. As long as there isnt coolant in your oil, and there are no puddles anywhere, it's just not full.

First, you should never mix standard coolant with the newer orange type(Dexcool). They are completely incompatible. If you are going to run the newer type you need TWO system flushes 2 wks apart, otherwise you are wasting your time. The long term life of Dexcool or any Dexcool replacement is contingent on a minimum of cross contamination. As far as topping off the recovery bottle it takes a week or two of adding to the "full cold" line several times to get it right if the system got low. You will notice that when it's right it will almost be exact between the "full cold" and "full hot" marks. I tend to be a little compulsive about getting it exact. It's a good way to detect a problem as you do the weekly fluid check and pick up a loss before you get stuck.

I got this from the havoline website:
" Compatible with conventional anti-freeze coolants; however, dilution with conventional anti-freeze/coolants will reduce extrended life benefits."
You really worried me there. Do you still think I should flush?

Thanks for the info

Dex-cool is compatible with conventioal antifreeze as in they will mix. Mixing the two will not damage your car, but even a little regular green coolant mixed with dex-cool destroys the extended life properties of the dex-cool.

Dex-cool has a 5 year 100,000 mile life expectancy as opposed to the regular greens 3 year or 30,000 mile. While mixing the two should not harm your car, the fact you have some green mixed with the dex-cool means you should make sure to follow the 3 year 30,000 mile schedule. Personally I flush my cooling system every fall.
