hayden adjustable fan switch
I installed a heyden fan switch relay and all, so what do you guys think is the best temp to set the fan to turn on at? I dont want to over cool the engine or over heat it either.

I dont have pics ill try to get some, the switch was $24. Its Very easy to wire, you Basicly run power from the battery to a relay down to the switch, run a remote tun on wire kinda like you do with an audio amp to a power source thats on when the car is on so that the fan only comes on when the car is on, this is a very low in the amount of power it drawls so it doesnt really matter what source you use. Run the switch and relay ground wires to a ground source, then you have the temp probe. The directions say to mount it on the back of the rad, i didnt find it to work too good their because the probe wasnt really against the rad so i didnt think it would get the correct reading, so i zip tied mine to the upper rad hose, this way the probe will read the hot coolant comming from the engine. If i remember correctly mine can be adjusted to stay on all the time to comming on at 240 # and everything in between. BEfore i installed this i had a manual fan switch, THEY SUCK! i got SO tired of turning it on and turning it off.

$24? I think that's for the non-adjustable switch? My adjustable cost closer to $40 from Pep Boys.
As for the temp probe. I was thinking of sticking mine through the cooling fins of the radiator.
The Hayden switch does seem to be a good piece of kit. And as mentioned above, the installation instructions are pretty clear and easy to carry out. This is a job that I have been putting off for a while now.

NO its the adjustable one, i wouldnt push it throught the rad fins as it isnt flat its kind of round shaped like a large nail, im sure you would bend the fins some. The $40 hayden switch ay my pepboys just comes with an extra ac relay thats all, my part number for mine is 3653. The instalation instructions that come with the kit say to wire the hot lead to a switch inside the car to turn the fan temp switch on and off, i saw this as a P.I.T.A , like just having a manual switch, And if you wire the temp switch directly to the battery then when you turn your car off and the motor is still hot then the fan will stay on. So i wired in a relay to supply power to the switch when the motor is on only. VERy much like the way our cars come from the factory, only i can set the temp i want my fans to come on at.
