hose insulator

i want to cover my fuel line with some sort of thermal hose covering to keep the fuel cool while passing near the headers.
I was wondering if those BRAIDED sleeve kits are only for show or do they actuallly do a good job at blocking excess heat from the inside of the line or hose.
Does anybody know of a good heat protector sleeve type product that would block out about 600 degrees F atleast.
