My fans are a waste
Well My car has recently wanted to overheat due to my fan not turning on. I thought it could be some other problems so I changed the thermostat and still it did it. So I had to rig a switch into the car for me to be able to turn on the fan and it works but I find it rediculas that I have to use a switch to operate something that should work right. Me and my uncle believe I have a bad ground somewhere or just a bad wire... Anyone have this problem before? I was told the fan is supposed to kick on somewhere around 195 to 200 degrees. Anyhelp would be wonderful.
I hate to be the one to ask, but have you searched for info on this topic? I know there is a lot of info out there.
You say "fans", so I assume your car is a TPI. If that is the case, there is a fan switch in the passenger side cylinder head. You can unplug the wire from it and ground said wire to test the fan. If the fan and relay are good, grounding that wire (green i think) will cause the secondary fan to run. If it doesn't run, you have a wiring problem, bad relay, or bad fan. If it does run, you know that the switch is bad.
