I bought this 87 IROC, and it has dual fans on it. One of the two starts running when the key is turned on, and it runs constantly. I'm told that this will keep the car from going into closed loop, or at least make it harder.

I've read the article Willie posted on dual fans and all, but I'm not terribly great at wiring, so I'm might need some extra explaination on fixing this.

Where do I start? Do I need an extra relay somewhere to keep the fan from running all the time? I can post pictures of the current wiring, if anyone should be interested.

i would assume that it's wired directly to u'r ignition and that it won't stop it from going into close loop.

i can see why some people would say it would be harder, because the car has to reach a certain temperature before going into closed loop. but it's on the rad and the thermostate dosn't open unt'll 195 degrees and the temperature sensor is in the head so, it dosn't do anything to help cool unt'll the thermostate opens.

 

what is this closed loop thing that everyone is talking about?
