overhead fan
has anyone ever thought of putting a fan underneath the hood of the car? why hasnt it been done, does it not do enough for cooling to make a difference? I know the fans normally take air from the radiator, but could an overhead fan try and get all that hot air down.

what i mean is a fan that is pushing air from the top of engine to below, where it reaches the ground.

i can see many issues you would encounter.
Hood clearance
Mounting
Wiring
Where does it draw air from
In short, unless you have about 5" of hood clearance, it won't work. Stick with what works (keeping the fan by the radiator) and be content. Almost an entertaining idea.

the fan isnt to put air onto the engine anyways... our engines are designed to be water cooled. hot water enters the radiator which in cooled by oncoming air. at rest there is no oncoming air so the fan is there to draw air into the radiator
