Controling oil cooler

Has any tried to install a setup to control when coolant goes though the engine oil cooler(for those who have them). I was thinking of maybe some kind of electric value, relay and a temp switch.

Is this worth it. To try to let the oil heat up faster, and let it stay warmer in the winter.

I have no clue as to the oil temp vs coolant temp in diffrent season since I don't have a oil temp gauge.
