First I'd like to apologize the fact I am an idiot, second what is THIS? Any idea on price or if an idiot like me will be able to replace it? Obviously it just cracked off, part of it is still in that tube, looks dead simple to replace I just don't know what it is.

 

That's the heat diverter valve. Should be under $20 at most auto parts stores. I broke mine when replacing my heater core and hoses. It costs me $17 at Advance Auto.

 

Thanks, I just pulled it off and it broke in another place.

update: well that was easy, now I'm just flushing out the radiator which is going to take five times longer than it was to connect three hoses. thanks again
