my coolant is disapearing.. and i dont know where its going to.. my over flow tank has about 1/8 inch left in it.. and i filled it the other night to just over the HOT line mark.. there arent any spills in the driveway or garage.. there are not signs of wetness anywhere in the engine bay or any place else..
what the hell? is there such thing as a coolant fairy?

3 suggestions, check your oil, your passenger floor under carpet and is it bieng burnt through exhaust (white smoke from tail pipe)? could be leaking heater core (wet carpet), or bad head gasket.(in oil or out exhaust)

Actually, I know it wasn't the coolant fairy -- because she was with me last night.
I have the same thing: over a month, I'll lose maybe 1/8" from the resovoir...but I know what's causing mine. I removed my heater core a few months ago and did a ****-poor job of bypassing it. I have the smallest few drops of coolant coming out from where I joined the two heater core hoses with a piece of the old core tubing. The engine compartment is so hot that the coolant evaporates before I can even see it. I'd have no idea what was going on except that this only started when I pulled the old core. You probably have a small leak as well.
Is there some kind of dye that you can use that would leave a phosphorescent residue from wherever it could be leaking?

I had the same problem for the past few years it would slowley disapear then one day i looked and my radiator was empty and was very confused so i filled it back up and 2 days later it was empty again didnt notice any leaks at all then i was pouring washer fluid in and noticed a little coolant on the side of my radiator i had been driving the car for about 2 hours so it was at tempature sure enough there was about a crack that went about a 1/4 of the way down the radiator on the plastic tank. Replaced the radiator and have not lost any coolant since. May want to check this out.
good call.. i'll check that

coolant lights up neon green with a UV light and yellow glasses.

I've also seen in other threads that the t stat housing area will seep ever so slightly but is hard to detect the leak because the engine heat will burn it off too quick.

I had the same problem a month ago , I would lose alittle , fill it back up , but I would lose it again I was determined to find the leak , I could even smell the antifreeze , turns out my Radiator cap lost pressure and was leaking , theyre over looked but they lose theyre pressure rating over time.
FOUND IT!!!!!
damn thing... it was my heater diverter valve.. the lower hose was just barely loose... was leaking and burning off on the header primary.. i saw a little bit of wet coolant splatter.. the looked on the back of the valve.. and it was wet... took me about an hour of searching and just when i was about to give up.. i found it...
im just glad it wasnt on the intake or something like that...

Yeah.. I wish MINE wasn;t the intake gasket.. ugh... what a job.. LOL... got it done though.
Bringing back an old thread. Got the same problem. Just replaced my radfiator with a 3 row Champion Radiator. I thought I had air pockets in the radiator. But after filling it up a few times, I have come to terms that Im leaking somewhere. Gonna pull a valve cover and check the oil for coffee with milk. I know its not in the exhaust. Theres no white smoke.

Why not just look at the dipstick. It's a little easier than pulling a valve cover.
Gonna test it out when I get home today.

mine was doing this too..turned out to be a freeze plug
My plugs are only 2 years old. It would be best to see from under the Camaro right, to check for the freeze plugs?
