temp guage

does anyone know if anything besides the guage operates off of readings from the temp. sensor on the drivers side head? i'm wanting to install an aftermarket electrical guage cuz i think the factory one is shot. car heats up to the point that i can't lean over it for very long but the temp guage hardly goes above 100 degrees even if i have been driving awhile

Far as I know only the gauge uses this sensor. The ECM has it's own two wire sensor on top- front of the engine.

thanks tom. i was just making sure nothing else operated off of it. i got the aftermarket guage installed and it proves the factory one was not working properly. had to question the stock guage when in traffic in 85 degree weather it was reading barely 100degrees.
