Please see this thread. I have an inquiry as to what needs to be replaced on my car at 50,000 miles cooling wise.

Thanks,
Bill

P.S. I just had my coolant treated/flushed. There was HARDCORE rust all up in it. Heck, i can still see brown stains in my tank.

I work at Jiffy Lube, and we have access to the manufacturer's recommendations for services. Most cars should have their fluids changed out about every 30k miles, including transmission fluid, coolant, and rear differential fluids for Camaros/Firebirds. More often is always better (some makers recommend as often as every 12k), but you have to balance budget needs with those changes as well.
Manual transmissions and rear differentials need fresh gear lube. Non-synthetic gear lube contains sulphur as a lubricant additive. Sulphur works great, but over time the heat in the gearbox reacts the sulphur with water from the air to make sulpuric acid, which then starts to eat the surface of the gears leading to pitting in the gears (obviously dirt and metal filings are of great concern as well).
Automatic transmissions use the fluid pressure to transfer the power through the torque converter, and in the valve body the tolerances for contaminants are very small, so dirty fluid can cause a great deal of damage here as well.
Cooland actually has lubricants in it as well for the water pump and thermostat, along with anti-rust agents, detergents to prevent build-up of dirt, and additives to stop electrolosis from eating your engine from the inside out.
obviously since I don't get money from you changing your fluids, I'm not trying to sell you on this, just letting you know what's best for the car.
