Fan blade problem

Car: 1986 Camaro
Engine: 305 4bbl
Transmission: t5
Fan blade problem
I have a 86 camaro with a 305 and i cant seem to get the fan blade to fit on properly, it seems the adapter is too short by about a half inch or so, if anyone has a clue on what i need to do i would sure appreciate the advice... thanks
