i have a 1989 camaro RS 305 and the fan wont come on with increased engine temperture like it supposed to. replaced collant temp sensor in front of TBI unit on top of manifold, didnt help. i have been running fan off A/C switch ( i disconnected a/c low freon switch so all it does is run the fan). i cant figure this out. if the fan switches on with the A/C switch doesnt that mean that the relay is working? is there anything wrong with running the fan most of the time? i run it in city driving and turn it off when driving on the expressway at 65 MPH there is enough air flowing through radiator to keep cool. what temperture should the fan come on. when i was testing it i let it go up to a little over 230 it still didnt kick on so i kicked it on manually and let the car cool down.what else should i test? i have never allowed this car to run in the red and i will make sure i keep it out of there.can i change the temp that it does kick on? any help would be great.

check the connector at the battery cable about 8 inches down the pos. teminal.it is a connector that feeds the fan relays it gets corroded... use a test light to see if 12v current stops. it happented to me hope this helps

My fan wouldn't come on unless I kick started also. I just replaced the fan motor and now it works flawlessly.Originally Posted by ad356
