Can a new hood help airflow?

Ive got a 305 TBI and i did the Ram-Air through the turnsignal conversion from the tech articles. I really like the WS6 stlye hood and i was wondering if the hood couldcreate better airflow by sending cold air through and shoving it out the back of the hood, since none of the air wil be sucked up into the intake. Could that make my engine cooler by doing this?

yeah that would help some, did you remove the rubber strip at the rear of the hood? if not that will help also.

Hey guys, the area around the base of the windshield (back of the hood) is a HIGH pressure area. As in -that is why cowl inductions work. I suppose if all you do is low speed (under 35mph) the extra 'escape route' would help, but if you drive faster than that, the air would get forced in, creating more pressure under hood (what you want is less, so you can get more air to flow through the rad).

To help more air flow through under hood on the WS6 hood (and keep it stock looking), open up the vents on the sides of the hood. There should be a decent low pressure area above that. I've often wanted to do that, but couldn't bring myself to cut my hood. Hope that helps.

If you really want to cool off things under hood, put some louvers on each side of centerline right behind where the radiator is. That spot is where the biggest area of low pressure (above the hood) is on any car, it really helps to 'suck' the hot air out that just went through the rad.

Would you also say theres a low pressure area above the side vents on a later thirdgen transam/GTA hood? I know they radiate heat when the car is sitting, from what I can feel. Im about to start taping strings all over my hood and start driving, to see how they act

yea, there should be low pressure over the side vents, maybe not as much as over the center of the hood, but should help.
