Radiator hold down?

I put in an after-market aluminum radiator in my car. The stock fan shroud is now about 4 inches higher than stock. I am looking for some sort of bracket/brackets that I can use in place of the fan shroud, to hold the radiator against the support.
Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Radiator Support

Hi,

What you might do is go to a good junkyard and see if
you can find a support from one of the earlier chevy
trucks that had the hold downs on the top crossbrace.

Was going to do this on my 87 Iroc and griffin radiator
but ended up altering my dual fan top piece to make
it work. Still may do that on the tank ribs as added
support. Can't remember what year trucks but sure
looked like they would work with a few alterations

HTH

Good Idea, Jaykar!
Didn't even think of that.

I bought a plate from Summit that fit pretty well for what I did:

This piece belongs on a Chevelle. They also sell one that goes on a 2nd gen F-body that's a bit wider and might look better, but I know this one works.

They don't make them for the 3rd gen. vehicles. The one you have has 3 hold-down bolts. Mine is 4 bolts and would also have to be a litte thicker and bent to go up and over the radiator and then be able to clamp the other side.

Thanks, though.
Just thought that someone has found a place that makes those same plates for a 3rd gen.

No place makes them for thirdgens any more. They haven't in probably 8 years. And even when they did it only worked for a stock rad anyways.

You either have to get creative and use the Chevelle/TA one and drill some new holes, get something from another car like the truck suggestion, or bent your own.

theres lots of possibilities for the hold downs

also the 73-80 trucks used the style like in the pics above, like in the second gen f bodies,

i have lots of them for 4 core radiators in the attic

i may use one of them for the 82, or maybe ill use 81-up truck ones

or just make out of aluminum stock

dunno yet

a tape measure and a marker are your friend

good luck
