this just started recently. while driving the temp goes up beyond 190, i turn the fans on (manual overide), and it quells it a little but then after a while it will start to go up even with the fans on and at speed. i recently replaced my upper and lower radiator hoses and drained the entire radiator and replaced with new coolant. it helped out a little but it's still running on the hot side (a hair over 190). it used to go down under 190 no problem. any ideas? i've been having a real wicked misfire going on lately. i had one of my techs scan my car a few months ago and he said i might have blown a head gasket =( are there any tell-tale signs for this?

also, can anyone tell me where i the coolant temp sender, low coolant sensor, and the coolant fan sensors are on my 305 (LB9)? what's the name of the sensor that is in the radiator above the drain **** and the cooler fitting?

First off I would make sure the system was burped properly, easy to do. Then if the fans arent cooling it down check and see if you have the original air dams to direct air to the radiator, most people remove them because they scrape on the ground in dips. then i would check the thermostat, cheap part to replace. also want to make sure the rad cap is good, a bad one can cause lots of different problems.

ASFAIK, the fans are supposed to turn off at 35mph, this may be due to the air passing through the car goes faster than the fans can flow and thus with the fan(s) on could cause an air restriction.

The coolant temp sensor on your car is on the front of the TPI lower manifold.
there isn't a low coolant sensor on our cars (at least my 5 thirdgens didn't have one).
The Secondary Fan switch is on the pass side head, Primary Fan is controlled by the ECM using the info from the coolant temp sensor on the TPI manifold.

do what hellfire recommends and report back.

Sounds like you covered all the cooling issues. However, if your running ruch based on low voltage/spark, you'll run warmer at any speed. Rich or lean that is.
