Help with Electric Fan
Help with Electric Fan
'90 Camaro with single fan will not come on when hot or when A/C is turned on. I have grounded the wire above the starter, checked the fuse, checked the fan. I found two fuseable links on passenger side at front of car but are either of these for the fan or relay. Also which relay should I start with when checking. Any help for what I am missing would be appreciated.

That would be me.
And I'll try to help out in this thread too.
Sorry but that's a little wrong. Those two "things" in the intake and driver side head are temperature sensors, not switches. One is for the ECM and one for the dash gauge. They do not operate the fans (or at least not directly). No need to bother with these, they are not the culprit in this case.
So you checked the main fan fuse by the battery? The one in the single-fuse holder with red and orange wires? Good.
BigWill is hinting about a relay and it sure could be the problem. You could swap the two relays you have under the hood (on the firewall, by the brake booster, tucked away in the corner). One is for the fuel pump, one for the fan. They are both identical on your TBI engine. (ok, maybe different in color) If you swap them and ground the wire on the temp switch in the passenger head again, that'll tell you if the relay is bad. If the fan turns on (with key on), buy a new relay. If it doesn't, there is a wiring issue somewhere. Or possibly a blown fuse under the dash (there is a "FAN" fuse there).
Let us know what you find, we'll take it from there.
