ac and coolant fan relationship

THis is an 85 2.8 mpfi

Having troubles with the ac system. The pressures continually rise and the compressor does not cycle off (not the cycling switch as it did it fine at first and the gauges indicate the pressure is now not dropping to the level for the switch to torun the compressor off). I don't recall seeing the coolant fan come on though. I am wondering if that is the issue and not allowing the condensor to do it's thing efficiently.

Anyone with a 2.8 setup, can you let me know when your coolant fan comes on. Is it on at idle any time the ac is on or??? Checked again today and when the compressor was on at idle the fan was not on. The fan does work though as it comes on when it should without ac in operation.

thanks.
