How do I discharge the AC???
Mine works and I have a vert (LOL). Never really use it, wanna delete the ac and put in headers!

 

LOL, I just don't want it going BOOOOM on me! Not cool! Is there a release valve or what??? Always took it out in all my cars, but the catch is that this one is almost full! (the rest of 'em did not work)

 

at my shop if someone asked me to evacuate their freon i would do it for free once i tested it for contamination. we would turn around and sell your freon to the next guy. just an idea.

 

Well I am not sure how concerned you are about the enviroment.... Mine was working great when I took mine out, and I didn't have the time of the $ to care about mother earth, so I let it blead out into the air. Do you know the little nipple that you use to rechage it? Well that is where you go to get it out. It should have a little cover, maybe gray. Take that off and you will see something that looks like a tire valve. When you push on it, free on comes out. This is not a good thing to get on you or to breath in. I tossed a towel, and then a blanket over the engine. Then I cut a tinny hole in both, big enough for the screw driver to go through. Then I pushed the screw driver in and let it blead. Takes a minute or so.

Afterwards as I was taking the rest of the pipes out that the freeon flows though, it started to seap out again. Looks like that first method didn't get it all out. So I loosened the nut on the pipe that was having freeon pass though and let it seap out a tinny bit. I left the car there and went out for lunch. I came back, and it was quiet. All the freeon was out. I continued to rip all the AC stuff out.

There is a large danger that nobody has addressed.

When discharging the freon(or any gas for that matter) from a high pressure, there is the risk of frost-bite. When the gas expands super-quickly, like venting it to atmosphere, it can reach cryogenic temps almost instantly.

I almost froze a thumb off, and it hurt like something that really really hurts.
Just keep your hands back from the discharge site, otherwise you can learn the lesson that I learned.

Releasing it slowly is your best bet, but accidents happen, and that stuff gets COLD!

 

this is true. That is why I used the towel and the blanket with a little hole cut though, just for the screw driver. Def gotta be safe around that stuff.
