You can get an aftermarket fan switch that comes on about 185 degrees, but this is recommended with a 160 or 180 thermostat. If you have the stock 195 thermostat a good solution is a stock fan switch from an 86-87 Buick Grand National. They come on at 205 degrees.

That can be easily re-programmed in the eprom. And if your car is a 90-92 SD TPI car, you can control both fans by a simple switch of the pins in the connectors at the ECM.

Ok so i could go to autozone and ask for a stock fan swith from a g/n? also is this the kinda switch that is a hand toggle or button that ill have to mount in side dash., or when refering to f"an switc"h it is ment a box type relay that is mounted in engine bay?

No, the fan switch is a screw-in sensor on the passenger side of the head between the #6 and #8 cylinders. Its a pain in the butt to change. One solution with an aftermarket TPI base is to use the cold start injector plug in the front for the fan switch and extend the wire, while putting a plug in the hole in the head.

If you want to put in an actual toggle switch, hook it to the ground wire of the relay, and to ground. That way when you turn on the switch, it grounds the relay just like the fan switch would do and turns on the fan. Turning off the switch will make the fan operate like stock. I think there is a tech article here on doing that.

I can do the tuning in the chip too if you want to bring the car to me in Orange County.

Driver fan is easily changed with a new chip.

Passenger side is changed with the fan switch. I had a 200/185 put in and find it to be the best of both worlds. Doesn't run all the time like the lower temperature versions. But doesn't ever let the car get above 200 either.

I run a 180 thermostat and driver fan comes on at 190.
