No Heat, Help

I already swapped my thermostat ( pain in the *** ) back to a 195, i used to have a 165 tstat for the summer. The engines a 2.8L. I cant figure out why I dont have heat. The temp gauge is reading between 195-215 while idling and drops to about 190 -195 while running. Cant figure out why no heat tho. The system blows air but its cold. Could this be my heater core or valve. Thanks. It sucks driving to school in -5 weather.

After the motor is up to temp, set the control panel lever to the hot position then check the hoses going to the heater core. Are they getting warm / hot? If one's hot and the other is not, the core may be plugged or the valve may be defective. Replacement of the valve is easy and cheap. If that doesnt get heat back inside, next you might try flushing the heater core. Swapping the heater core is a bit more involved time wise but easy enough to do also.

Good luck

Re: No Heat, Help

Wadebryant is correct, your t-stat sounds to be ok, mines ok i just replaced it, thats why our vehicle gets warm just fine but still just cold air, it has something to do with our vacuumed lines behind that center control piece, im gonna get under there today and find the problem, hopefully it will be easy as these cali mornings here in the valley get hella cold , but my heat works fine after driving and getting pressure up,by getting on the highway, any speeds lower=cold cold heat.. 88 tbi 5.0
