Finished Heater Core Replacement

I just this morning wrapped up the replacing of my heater core. I had to cut the hoses going to the core, just to get them off. They were not budging. In Mid-Teens Degree weather. I snapped prolly 3 or 4 vacum lines also,

As it was 1 in the morning and the auto stores were closed. I tied electric tape, cloth and calbe ties around the hoses until i can buy new ones. As i drove this morning my apssenger side again fill with coolant. Along with a pool under the car from somewhere.

Can i blame the impromptu rig of the hoses on the leak(s), or did i break the core putting it in. Or both or possibly other?

Also, what hoses should i be looking to buy, to replace...the hoses are cut and slit longways about an inch. What do i say to the auto parts ppl, or are these just generic pipes?

they are common "heater hose"...you prob want 5/8" hose...but take in a sample to show the parts guy and he will hook you up. its like 50cents/ft for the hose.

yes whatever you cut and ducttaped up is causing the leak, as the water becomes pressurized, it pushes on everthing trying to find a weakpoint, and it found it. i suggest you first replace the hoses, because those hoses can leak and spray down into the air ducting and leak onto the passenger side. and it can also leak onto the ground. GO GET NEW HOSE.
