Need some advice

I am thinking about buying a 1995 Camaro, But the guy says after running it for awhile it overheats. He said there is No leaks, and No Rad fluid in the oil, Could the thermostat Be the cause of this?

Also How Do I Replace the thermostat in a 1995 Camaro?
I have googled it and searched, and i want to know how hard/easy it will be for me to do it, i'm a n00b at these cars..

Thanks in advance.
Robert.
BTW, its a V6 FI

1995 = 4th gen. You're on the wrong website, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Also, how long is "after running it for awhile".

I don't know yet, i gotta go see and drive it first. if it overheats just from sitting at idle for only 10 mins, somethings up... Sorry about that, i knew it was a 4th gen, but this site and z28.com is the only ones i know of.

I'll go out on a limb here just because of previous experience with overheating issues related to 4th gen v6's... Before you get too excited about this car, pull the dip stick and check for signs of water in the oil. If the oil's white-ish, milky looking, it has a head gasket problem. Usually, the car runs fine for about 10-20 minutes then heats up. The owner may claim that there's no water in the oil but, be cautious.

A stuck themostat, possible but an easy fix. Why doesnt the seller correct it if it's faulty. Yellow flag.

Water pumps are another area of potential failure and overheating. Here again, be carefull. You can replace these parts easy enough. But, ask the seller if he's ever considered or done that?

Chances are this thread will be deleted. For other 4th gen info go to http://www.z28.com

good luck

If you're seriously considering this car, know what it's worth before you go look at it. KBB and NADA are good ref. guides for private purchases. But, knowing that it has issues that immediately need to be addressed, keep alert. If the seller doesnt have the time and money to fix the basics, it may be a deal maker or breaker. You be the judge. Dont get stuck with a dog.

The new 09 Camaro will put a lot of good used 4th gens (like mine) on the market... something to keep in mind.
