After the car has been driving and warmed up, it should stay in the neighborhood of 220*.

a little higher then 220-240, the stock fan comes on at around 238*

mine runs 240ish but i normally drive around with the AC on and it stays around 200ish,

does anyone know if thats bad for the fan?

Just like the General designed it but, those temps are too high for my taste.
My 305 TBI RS ran 220+ when I bought it. That was changed the day after. A 180 deg fan switch and a 180 theromstat, fan kicks on and it stayed below 195, even during the summer + a/c. Still have the OE fan 16 years later.

My motor runs really sluggish at around 240 or higher. Now with the flexalite low profile fan, it runs around 160-180 and the motor runs like it should.

i just bought an 88 with a 305 tbi and it likes to get up to around 220...but i really don't like to let it run that hot...so i blast the heat and keep it around 180...just a temporary solution until i take it into the shop friday...probably do a 180 thermostat and a radiator from the 350 iroc

thanks for all the response guys.

i just finshed putting my 91 305 tbi back together.blew a head gasket and had the valves done and the heads shaved.i put in a gauge i bought and it runs around 190.thats with a 180 thermostat installed.it ranges from 180-200 but stays around 190 most of the time.and it runs great now i think it was leaking when i bought it because it is a whole lot more power now then when i first bought the car.
