near meltdown in less than five minutes!
i just got my 89 formula 350 on the road after sitting for more or less than two years. today i was driving home from work(a five minute drive) and right before i pulled in i noticed my SES light came on so i looked at all my gauges and my temp was as far as it could go in the red. when i put it in park in my driveway I immediately popped the hood and ofcourse the engine coolant was boiling. now, im no great mechanic but I do know the whole system should probably be flushed, but i didnt think it was THAT bad, also maybe it's the thermostat? or maybe the pressure cap? I have a 15lb cap on, is the correct poundage on a 350 for the year? also, im not leaking any fluid so i don't think it's anything too major but still you just never know. i kind of saved this car so im not sure what the people before me did to it. any help is greatly appreciated. how can i help my car!?

Test/replace the thermostat. That's the most likely culprit and the cheapest/easiest fix.

Yup...
And when you open the the system, don't be surprised
to see that a flush & clean would be in order -- also
very cheap & easy PM (preventive-maintenance).
