Help!! I Need Advice- I think my fan is shot...

I pulled into my driveway about an hour ago, got out of the car and I began smelling smoke coming from somewhere under my hood. I quickly popped my hood and right away saw a steady little stream of smoke coming from the driver's side fan. I have the stock dual fan setup. I also have a custom chip that pretty much keeps both my fans running from 180 degrees up. Afraid of a fire I doused the one fan with a little water to get it under control. While the car was still hot, I wanted to check and see if the passenger side fan (secondary fan I'm guessing ) would still come on. So I quick turned on the battery and it did. The car is cool now (I can touch the headers with no problem) but the fan still feels hot to the touch.

So I have a couple questions: Do you guys think the one fan is shot. Should I disconnect the wiring from it and if I do will this prevent my other fan from coming on? If it is shot do you know if they sell replacements for it, or will I have to go with a used dual fan setup or aftermarket? Thanks for your time and assistance, Josh.

Each fan should have it's own relay, and just as long as everything is wired up correctly the other fan should still work. An easy way to check and see if the fan you saw smoking still works is to jumper the connection between the two big wires on that fan's connector with a paperclip or piece of wire.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahaed and unplugged it and the other one still comes on. I guess I'll try and hunt down a new fan motor though... Thanks again, Josh.
