Clutch may be bad
I just got a new compressor with clutch but it wont engage,.,,,,, question someone had put a transistor in between both wires on the clutch. will that make it not operate right

The resisitor on the on the connector is there to protect against voltage spikes to the clutch's coil(sorry it's not worded correctly but general idea).When you installed the new compressor(hopefully with a new receiver/drier)did you pull a vacuum on the A/c sustem for at leat an hour before adding refrigerate?The low pressure switch may still have the compressor locked out.What refrigerate are you using as the values for recharge are different between R12.134A,Freeze12 and 406A(I'm sure I've left one out).Have you checked for voltage at the connector for the clutch?If not present you mat not have suffecient refrigerate in .

It's a diode to protect against voltage spikes from the coil when the power is turned off.

thanks guys but the air gap was off now I think I burnt out the bearings can I put new ones in possibly.
