Going insane..
Going insane..
Hey guy's,
I'm new to your board and hope you guy's can help me out. I recently bought a 85 Iroc 305 TPI from a towing company which did not run. It is now running great but I am having a problem with the car supposidly overheating.
I say suposidly because my guage in the dash says around 250-260 but the car runs great and has not poped the radiator cap which is factory 16 lbs. which is new. The overheating fan does also go on but if i check the radiator with a digital thermomiter it reads about 195.
So so far from reading other posts here is what I do know.
Airdam is in place
Has a new radiator
New water pump
replace sending units for fan and temp guage
replaced thermostat
The car does have an old hypertech chip in it.
The only thing I have not replaced is the actual factory guage in the dash. When should it start to overflow? I just bought a auto meter guage I am going to hook up tommorow and see it thats my issue.
Any advice is appreciated. Since the guage and fans turn on is that a guarantee its overheating?

Hook up the autometer and see what it tells you. If the radiator has never been serviced it may be stopped up. If you have 195 at the radiator(I assume your checking surface temp) its very possible you can have 250 at the engine.
