Overheating

Well i just got home from taking the car out. I noticed the car was idling a little high so I got out to adjust it. I noticed the water temp was high so I shut the car of real quick and the coolant started to bubble in the reservoir. I have no idea what is Im going to flush the radiator tommorrow and put new coolant in it.

The car has what I was told is a L05 but can not say for sure because I haven't ran the block number. It is carbed and and has stock heads. Please help me asap.

Re: Overheating

we need more info.

first off, when the radiator is cold [left to sit overnight, or for a few hours] open it, best to do this with a folded rag over the cap incase its not a cold as it feels and starts to spray. after you open it check to see if the coolant level is at the top of the rad [it should be about to spill over, and covering all the internal fins]

how is the overflow tank when its cold?

are you leaking any where?

do you smell coolant inside the vehicle?

does your exhaust smell like coolant?

do you overheat while driving? sitting in traffic? a/c on or off?

are your fans turning on?

do you have heat after its a operating temperature?
