Overheating/ Coolant leak

I was driving down the highway the other day, without an air dam, and one of my hoses broke and spewed coolant all over the place. Since then my car has routinely overheated as well as leak coolant. I replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap and it seems to have helped with the overheating problem -- should there be anything else that could cause overheating that i should be aware of? The fan does come on at 220*. As for the coolant leak, i notice a lot of coolant coming from the thermostat housing -- is it possible for this to have warped due to the heat 260*+ caused by the broken hose? Or is it more likely something else is wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Overheating/ Coolant leak

I lied. The fan doesn't turn on until 240*. Yikes. How do I fix that?

You'll always overheat on the highway without an air dam! Electric fans do no good above 35mph.

On the 240* - maybe a bad guage (they often lie), or you may need a new fan switch (pass side head).

Re: Overheating/ Coolant leak

did you purge the air out of the system when you filled it back up with coolant? if not you may have an air pocket.
