Fan is siezed Help!
Okay. So I thought I was gonna swap a flex a lite fan into my car no hassle, because I was having electric fan issues. I'm retarded evidently because I never measured the clearance foe the mech. fan....... so that idea is pretty much out. Leaving me on here to explain to you guys whats happening with my current setup. I have currently a L03 TBI, with the stock electric fan, rewired to run constant because it was hooked up like that when I got the car. Ran it like that for over a year, now it's giving me massive issues. First it was rubbing on the housing, which at one point seized the olded motor, I replaced it and kept on trucking. Next I shaved down the housing to get it to stop rubbing. Problem sloved, it stopped rubbing. Now it doesn't work at all, the wire I had jumping the fan melted all the way up to the wire I had it jumped to, the fan motor is shot again and well that sucks. If I were to go ahead and buy a new temp sensor, and rewire it to original with a new fan motor would most of my fan issues go away? And I am in the process of building a gen 1 350 with carb (no computer) that I'm going to swap in, so is there another route I need to be aware of when swapping the motor and keeping that fan setup? Or will the sensors swap over to the 350 block and I can keep running everything in its stock location. ~KW

Couple of ways you can go with this.. you decide. Replace the OE fan (single right?), aftermarket (sounds like you've been there) and or a dual fan set up from a donar 3rd gen or 4th gen car. If your lucky enough to find a 3rd gen dual fan set up, take it all, including the mounting brakets.
Either way, if you dont want to or cannot for some reason use the OE wiring, I'd wire it up to aftermarket 30 amp relays. You can use a head mounted fan switch to activate the fan(s) or a radiator probe. Your choice.
Personally, I use a head mounted fan switch on my RS and manual toggle switches in my IROC to power the fans. Again both through relays.

If I could go the OE route I'd be happy. Too bad I don't think that would work on the motor I'm throwing in there..... So maybe your switch method might be my best choice.

If you're thinking about using an aftermarket fan switch, I'd suggest something along this line:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

From what I saw, does that work independantly of me "flipping a switch"? Or would I still have to do that.

Re: Fan is siezed Help!
Depends on how you wire it... It can be stand alone or interupted with a manual toggle switch. If you decide to go with a manual toggle switch, you dont need the fan switch in parallel with the relay. You just need a toggle switch and the relay.
Check out the wiring schematic installation instructions within the attached thread. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
