NEED HELP!

Ok i have a problem, i just got a 1987 Z28 Camaro, now there really isnt anything wrong with her but im getting ready to drive her across the country, and i was in a car wash today and the water got on the wire for the dam fan, so the wire shorted and the car over heated but of coarse i didnt know this until i pulled out and had a lot of steem comign from under the hood, so my question is this, i ahve already fixed the fan but incase some thign like this happens again, my temp gauge does not work, that is what i need help with. its always all the way down, i turn the car on and it shoots up to the top and then goes back to cold, and thats it, it never reads as getting warm or anythign like that. now the sensor (on top of the thermostat housing) looks brand new, what else could this problem be? my last 2 camaros had the same issue....

Re: NEED HELP!

The sender for the gauge is not on the thermostat housing. The sender for the gauge is located in between #1 and #3 spark plugs on driver side. Pretty easy to get to. Make sure that the wire is hooked up. If thats ok, then you might have a bad sender.
