Refilling Coolant
I just drained the radiator and block in my 305... i flushed it out with the hose, and got most of the gunk out (i think). I want to refill it with a 50/50 mix, but I don't know the capacity. I'm not sure if the number I found (17 quarts?) is just for the radiator or for the entire cooling system. I Know that i have to fill it up to the top and then keep topping it off to bleed the system, but if I dont know the total capacity, i can't mix the antifreeze in for the right ratio before filling. I might be incredibly over thinking this... but I'm new so go easy on me
Thanks for your help, any instructions would be greatly appreciated.

I did the same thing to my V6 car after I changed the heater core. It was around 4 jugs of 50/50.
Re: Refilling Coolant
Just fill the radiator up to the top and leave the radiator cap off, start the car up and let it warm up.Once it's up to temperature the thermostat will open and let it flow through the system.
When you see the level in the radiator drop, just keep adding fluid until the fluid level inside the radiator stops lowering and all the air bubbles are out of the system. let the heat run too inside the car so it flows through everything.
It's not hard just take your time.

thanks everyone, appreciate the help. And to answer matj's question, it doesnt matter how much it holds, but if I knew that, it would be easier to get a 50 - 50 ratio because I would know how much antifreeze to mix in.
