fan or thermostat?

I have an 88 305 tbi with a single electric fan. If I turn on the AC the fan comes on instantly and stays around 190 or 1/4 on the gauge. Without the ac on the fan comes on at 220 or 1/2 on the gauge. Is this normal? Seems like I remember when the needle never went above 1/4 on the gauge using the ac or not. The waterpump and the thermostat has been replaced but I don't know what temp thermostat is in it.

Re: fan or thermostat?

Yes - it's normal. Turning on the A/C automatically runs the fan, regardless of temp.
