Wanting to build one 1.5" deep I came across this and with my lack of a brake was going to spend the extra dough. Now see its only 1/2" wide and am wondering if it is worth it?

as is not deep enough,but could add some weather strip,
rubber edge etc to add an extra 1",then should be good.
