Coolant Diverter valve with carb?

Does this valve work with a carb? I was at the JY yesterday and saw one so I grabbed it. I was wondering if the feed from the plenum could be replaced by the feed from the intake manifold. I didn't know if there is a pressure difference. My vacuum lines were just cut at the firewall. Also if so, how do you know which vacuum line should go to the diverter valve? And the vacuum line to engine vacuum, where should that be tied in? Any help would be appreciated as I'm putting in a new heater core this weekend and need to plumb everything. The heat was eliminated on the car when I bought it.

Engine vacuum will go to the heater controls and the vacuum line from the heater control goes to that valve. You can block off the part that goes to the throttle body, thats just there to prevent throttle icing.
