so i have an 86 iroc with a 305 tpi and what i thought was a leaking thermostat gasket, so i replaced the thermostat an gasket, when i finished and put it back together i found the thermostat housing had coolant on it again,it looks like its coming from the bolt closest to the front of the engine, the head of the bolt was wet and around it too, so i talked it over with the guys at work and they said to put silicone on the bolt threads, so i pulled out the bolt and put silicone on the threads and around the area the bolt threads into and made a complete mess. started the engine and found coolant still seeping out how is this possible, its coming out on top of the thermostat housing flange not where it meets the intake. could the thermostat housing have a small crack? has anyone else came across this problem?

run your hand along the end of the hose and make sure it's dry, if it's dry there, then I would probably just buy a new housing, I don't think they're more than 20 dollars... either way it looks like you're due for a new one...
