Thermostat gasket sealer?

Putting in a new thermostat tonight,
I see there is a sizable nick in the manifold
side of the housing. It will leak without some
sort of "filler". Any suggestions?

Re: Thermostat gasket sealer?

always used the gasket plus a bit of blue rtv on both sides. may be overkill, but should help seal any nicks like you mentioned.

if you can somehow manage to get the manifold squeaky clean, maybe a little bit of jb weld to fill the hole (depending on the size of the nick)
