dual fan question
i have a 87 iroc with the dual fan setup and my car started over heating so i decided to try and wire both fans to a switch so they can both be on and off when i want them so i recently ran wire to both fans back into my car with a switch when i flick the switch on and after about five mins or so of the fans running the wire i ran starts to get really hot and actually start to melt. i wanted to know why it does that i even tried thicker wire do i need like something in between i just have it wired from the fans to the battery to a switch in my car also is using the dual fans better then one big single fan thanks for any of the help
Re: dual fan question
For one the fans are NOT ment to run all the time.
Second find out why the cars running hot. My best guess would be the 23 yr old radiator and since you can not see the front of it, my guess the fins are blocked with curd.

Re: dual fan question
Yes, agree w/ above.
From the fans to the battery? So your switch switches the 12V? How did you complete the gnd? First of all the ECU controls the ground of the pass side fan, the pass side head mounted thermal switch controls the ground for the switching current to switch the relay for the pass side fan.
To use a switch you should complete the ground side of the fan w/ the switch, not the 12V side and you should do it w/ a relay. You are wiring up a fire hazard there.
