Fan problem
My fan wont work, 92 camaro 305tbi, replaced the thermostat, fan relay, coolent temp switch, BTW the coolent temp switch... how far down does it suppose to screw?, I can still see top of threads but it wont go any further, but works I suppose, I checked the fuse the fuse is good, and the fan will only work with A/C on, I keep the a/c on all the time to keep from over heating, the needle usually stays on the second bar to the left (right after the 100 bar)....but today the coolent temp is staying a little higher, is this notthing to be worried about? and any ideas on the fan?

Re: Fan problem
Coolant temp switch - you mean the one in driver side head, or pass side head?
Driver side head is the sender for the guage (between #1 & #3 plugs).
Pass side head is the fan switch that turns on the fan (between #6 & #8 plugs).
Do not use teflon tape or anything on the fan switch - it needs to be able to get a ground from the head - when the temp rises enough, this switch provides the ground for the fan relay.

Re: Fan problem
I think the coolant temp switch you refer to is actually the coolant temp sensor if its the one that screws down into the front of the intake manifold. Its for letting your computer know whats going on with engine temps. That the fan works with AC on means both the fan relay and fan are good. The fan switch newbie refers to above is famous for this problem. A search on this thread will give you tons of info about which replacement switch you think would be your best option. If you ground the wire that goes to the fan switch with the key on and your fan goes on you have just confirmed the diagnosis unless a faulty connection there was the problem. Have fun!
