Overheating

Hey guys,
I recently flushed my radiator and cleaned it out and installed a 160* thermostat because my motor was overheating a lot, mainly at idle. Doing those things helped but the motor still likes to run a little hot for that thermostat, about 200*. And when I get on the motor the temp spikes up to 220* or so and stays up there. Sometimes after shutting the car down hot and turning it back on after a short time, I am getting what I think is pre-ignition. The engine light comes on and the motor sputters and sounds like its going to die. Don't know if this would have anything to do with it, but when idling, I hear a miss. But when I am accelerating there is no miss.
It's an L98 bored .030 over with a mild lunati cam and headers and stock cooling system including the stock dual fans. Any suggestions on what to do? I was thinking of installing the Dakota Digital PAC-2700 so I could have the fans come on sooner and stay on after shut down to cool the motor.
